THE VALUE OF A SMILE!

It cost nothing, but saves much.
It enriches those who receive it,
Without impoverishing those who give.
It happens in a flash, and the memory of it last forever.
None is so rich that he can get along without it:
None so poor that he is not enriched by it.
It creates happiness in the home,
Fosters good will in business, and
It is the countersign of friends.
It is rest to the weary,
Daylight to the discouraged,
Sunshine to the sick,
And Natures's best antidote for trouble.
Yet it cannot be bought, borrowed, or stolen,
For it is something that is of no earthly good to anyone,
Until it is given away.
If you meet folks who are too burdened with grief or worry to smile,
Just give them one of yours.
For nobody needs a smile so much as those who have none to give.

SUMMER IS ENDED!!

It has been a while since I have blogged!! A couple months, I think. Anyway, it is a beautiful time of the year. The flowers haven't been more beautiful, and the leaves on the trees and bushes are radiant!!! I love it. Karen has taken some gorgeous pictures of the fall scene here in Oregon. It seems the rain and the frost have really colored the fall scenery. Winter will soon be here. It has been lovely in WA also.

Can you see where the semi went over the ledge? There have been quite a few fatalities along here of late - this was one.

(Just a side note - this is Karen posting and we tease dad that he's not going to quit til he drops! Hmmm! Retirement sounds good til you look it in the eyes??!.....!)

Summer is going fast!!

Here it is already July. It is unbelieveable 2008 is one half over. We flew to the east coast the end of May and just got back from a two week automobile trip to the mid-west. It was great to see all the relates again, but it was great to get back home. There is no place like home. It was great to get to part of Chugwater. The temperatures while we were gone were mild, but back in WA and OR it finally warmed up after a very cool spring. It was 101 degrees the day after we got home. WA is dry. A thunderstorm Sunday evening started trees on fire just north of Goldendale. Someday maybe I can put some pictures on again. We look forward to the last part of summer.....conventions here in the Northwest and my sister coming out for five of them.

A Taco Soup Supper to finish out our time in AZ!!

We enjoyed this quiet evening together for taco soup and salad! Our time in AZ is coming to and end. We have enjoyed our time very much, so we look forward to next fall. YEA!

Another tote!!

This past week I got another tote made. I started to cut out a quilt, but I haven't gotten very far. The weather has been fantastic!! We go to the pool everyday. We will really miss the pool when we leave.

SEWING!

I haven't made much progress sewing this winter. I feel really bad as I have quite a bit of quilting I'd like to get done. I need to quit procrastinating!!
